ASG smartphone Email Setup Instructions – 2/18/12

For all iPhones and Droids first delete the old ASG email account from your phone that was used before the email migration on 2/17/12. Then re-add the account per settings below. If you use a Blackberry, these settings don’t apply to you and I’ll be contacting Verizon to have your Blackberry reprogrammed remotely.

Instructions for iPhone:

1.    Go to settings, “Mail, Contacts, Calendars” and choose Add Account and then tap Microsoft Exchange.

2.    Enter your email address in the Email box.

3.    For Domain just leave blank.

4.    For Username also enter your email address.

5.   For Password, enter your new email password. Note: The new email password is based on the old password except it begins with an upper case letter and ends with two equal signs. So if your old password was nb9999 then your new password is Nb9999==. We had to add at least one upper case letter and the two special characters at the end in order to meet Microsoft’s password complexity requirements. This only applies to your Outlook Email and phones; the login name and password for your PC have NOT changed.

6.    For Description, you can leave blank or type ASG (this is optional).

7.    Tap “Next.”

8.    The iPhone will now try to automatically discover your Exchange server settings.  In the event it can’t automatically detect the settings, you will have to manually enter your server name in the window. The server name is: m.outlook.com and then tap “Next.” If it does successfully detect the settings, then tap “Next.”

9.    You should then see a general account info screen (as pictured below). Please make sure Mail, Contacts and Calendars are turned ON, which they should be by default. Tap “Save.”

10. Now tap the home button and go into Mail.  You should see your new account appear, and it should show your folders and email messages within a few moments.  Email is now set up. You’re done.
